What is she thinking?

Powerhouse Tori & Dina aka Ms. Rum Barrel Island

It was Tori MacArthur's 3rd time to perform at our parties and she just keeps getting better. She sang 5 songs with Jonah Mayes joining her on the acoustic guitar.
We had a costume contest with trophies going to Jeff "A One Night Stand" Trimpe taking funniest, Gloria the Voodoo Priestess taking scariest and a Sexy Witch winning best overall.

Nice costumes!

We had our 4th annual Halloween party this past Saturday and I'm pretty sure all of our guests, living and dead, had a great time. Everything went as planned with a few setbacks including some sound issues and the ever present power outages. Greg, who volunteered to be our D.J. did a fantastic job as usual and Jona & The Jayhawks rocked the house.

It takes quite a bit of preparation to put these parties together, as I am sure most of you know. Lucky for me some of my pirate friends came by to help. One Eyed Willie and Capn' Drumsticks are ready to party!

Today was the first day of winter for me, I know, it's only fall but if the temperature drops below 70 summer is over as far as I'm concerned. Since I work outside and had to endure a little chill today, I couldn't help but look at the pictures from this past beach party. It actually warmed me up a bit. I look forward to throwing next years party, but first....Halloween!

Brrrr! It's 43 degrees this morning and if you know me at all then you know that I do not like cold weather. If it's below 70 then I am miserable. Well, there's just not time to sit around wrapped in a warm blanket. There are spaces to be decorated, recipes to be found and costumes to be pulled from the crypt. I have a party to prepare for and a job to attend to but I can't help but feel like I'm being pulled....I want to go back to the islands...

It looks as if the devil has possessed one of our local foodies

Haunted Island 2007, Anna Nicole and Ghastly Gloria
Well, it's time for our 4th annual frightfest, Haunted Island 2008. It seems to get bigger and bigger every year. In the past, Casting Shadows has provided the live entertainment but they are no longer together...sigh. They will be missed but the party must go on. This year we will have an acoustic set featuring Tori MacArthur and Jonah Mayes, as well as Jonah's band playing a couple of sets. Greg, or as I like to call him, Ghoulreg Howlman will be providing his spooktacular DJ services. I'll be cooking up some devilishly delicious severed finger foods, putrid pestilent pirate pastries and of course...ghastly gruesome gut wrenching grog! This will be a costume party so there will be a contest. Trophies will be awarded for scariest, funniest and best overall. So, grab your broom, dust off your witches hat and fly on by 'cause there'll be a multitude of creatures in sight and we're all gonna party like pirates that night!
